New design? More like upgrade!

Last Thursday I upgraded the software for my site and it broke everything. So now I’m in the process of getting things back to the way they were…maybe. Katrina’s talked about wanting to do a design or background for my site so it may have some influence on what I do.

Last night Nick showed me a trailer for a new movie by Spike Jonze based on Maurice Sendak’s book. The trailer is amazing, not only in the visuals, but the music as well!

The song in the trailer is called “Wake Up” and is by the indie group The Arcade Fire.

Last Friday Willmar got a surprise, a tornado. In my twenty years of living here, I’ve never known one to hit so close.

It was pretty insane. I was sitting in my living room at the time kind of mad that the sirens weren’t stopping despite the clear skies. Fortunately a friend who was coming over for a visit decided to call me to tell me why he was late saying, “Hey Josh, I’m not coming over right now…there’s a tornado right over your house.”

Fun times.

Cloverfield

What a way to bring in the new year! If Cloverfield is any indication to what this year will bring for movies, I’m really looking forward to it!

Cloverfield follows a group of friends who are caught up in an attack of an unidentified beast on New York. We follow their misfortune through one of the character’s hand held camcorder. While this makes for a shaky visual experience, I feel that it really helps immerse the viewer in story. Now I’m not normally scared during a movie, but for Cloverfield, the camera work really left me scared during the movie. Often times, I caught myself trying to crane my neck around in a vain attempt to try to see what was going on!

Though I’ve never read any of the Cthulhu Mythos, I was hoping that Cloverfield was going to be about Cthulhu. But alas, it would appear it is not. I am hoping with the way the movie was told and how it ended, that there will be more movies about this story/universe. Only time will tell!
