We’re looking to implement automatic port configurations to keep visitors off the company’s network, but finding a turn key solution proved difficult. So the search began for opensource software that could do the job. Maybe I’m just an idiot, but I’ve been finding that the current OSS such as FreeNAC are pretty inane to set up and get running. So of course I go about designing my own solution. Yay for open source!
So much for timeliness, I wrote the above months ago! The project has been placed on hold because I was able to prove we could do it, but to actually implement it, we’d need to purchase one or more new servers to run the VMPS and related software. Like always, I’ll try to get the code cleaned up and released when I have the time, or I’ll roll the functionality into my switchport map project.
