Two change can be rough

A couple-few weeks ago a good friend of mine wrote a very interesting bit about Facebook and “social-networks” in general and it got me wondering.

Whenever it happened last year, when Facebook opened up to everyone, I signed up since that’s where the party was. MySpace was overrated and overrun, which Facebook seems to becoming lately. At any-rate at last I could partake in the wonderland of Facebook and it was wonderful. However, as time progressed, I noticed something. That I was preferring to send messages on Facebook rather than call or just talk with the people. There was also that glaring thing called “homework” that would suffer from time to time.

Summer came and I noticed I was on Facebook less and less. In fact I’d go weeks without even looking at my email notifications. Part of the reason was because I was working, and the other was because I was actually socializing with people offline. Connecting, getting to know better, and making memories. Things you can’t do online.

So why berate Facebook? Well, for myself, it studs my social growth. However I think for the time being, I’m going to continue using it for planning events (CrowBowl anyone?), and maybe keeping in touch with more far-flung friends and acquaintances.

Okay, so much for one change, now for another.

As you may have seen I’ve changed the theme for Wordpress. I was getting tired with the other one and it didn’t work well with IE. So I’m hoping if I have some time, that I’ll be able to mess with this blank slate theme.

In other news, I’m pretty much just finished with the new Code Snippet section to Dream.in.Code. Right now it’s in beta mode and being tested by myself and the other mods. Hopefully we’ll be able to roll it out for the masses within the next week!
