I looking over my blog list this evening (mainly since I was bored, Naruto can only entertain for so long) and I decided to take a look at what David Mitzenmacher had been up to recently. Well he hasn’t been up to much in terms of blogging unfortunately. I can’t say I blame him, blogging can be quite hard! The myriad of topics to cover, trying to decide what is appropriate to blog about, how much information should be given, etc. All of that can be quite troublesome.
At any rate, he decided to break his nearly six month silence this past July with some news that he’s moving his site over to Mosso. The service looks pretty impressive, so much so that I’m blogging about him blogging about it. I don’t know exactly how their system works, but from the looks of it, they’re using some serious virtualization methods to separate the different server services (PHP, ASP, *SQL, etc.). Also from the looks of it, you can mix different things like ASP, PHP, Apache, and IIS all without the end user knowing any difference expect perhaps the file extensions.
But I don’t know, it looks pretty neat and once I get done with school and have a “real” job, I’ll be able to try this out. Who knows? I hope it’s still around in a year.
How do I know Dave? I met him while working at Gospel Light as a Technology Intern, in fact his desk/cube was right next mine! Many a good times were had.
